HP Photosmart C4780 Printer Review

Friday, March 12th, 2010

The HP Photosmart C4780 is a mid-range all-in-one printer that is better suited for a home than an office. It goes a step above your average multifunction printer by featuring wireless connectivity, allowing you to print from any room in your house. It can also print on both sides of a page, to minimize paper usage and the HP Smart Web Printing option lets you choose to print only what you want from a web page. With average print quality, normal speeds and its affordable price, the HP Photosmart C4780 rates a 3 out of 5 stars.

Quick Summary

If you want a good printer that will fulfill your sporadic printing needs, then the HP Photosmart C4780 is it. Although there’s nothing exceptional about this multifunction printer, it does get your printing jobs done at speeds of 9 pages per minute (ppm) for black, 23 ppm color and can churn out a 4″ x 6″ photo as fast as 29 seconds. This photo printer utilizes up to a maximum of 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi resolution, while its 48-bit scanner can replicate documents up to 1200 dpi. It also has an 80-sheet input tray that is just about right for the average home user.

Good Points of the HP Photosmart C4780

For students, college dormers or hobbyists, the HP Photosmart C4780 does its job decently. It may not be the best photo printer around, but at its low price tag, one shouldn’t expect much. This multifunction printer is perfect for printing day-to-day requirements, like maps, papers and draft reports. Its wireless connectivity makes it a great home printer, while scanning produced clear images and photos.

Bad Points of the HP Photosmart C4780

The HP Photosmart C4780 does not have a paper catcher, so if you’re printing in large volumes, this can be a hassle. And, although, this multifunction printer supports Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, SD XD and MMC cards, it does not support Compact Flash Drive or MicroSD, which are proprietary in DSLR cameras and mobile phones.

In conclusion, this multifunction printer works well for normal, everyday printing requirements. But should you want or need high-quality print outs and more features, it’s best to check other options.
